We are not a walk-in clinic, so patients must have an appointment to see a doctor, nurse, dietician, social worker, or other specialist.   However, we are always available to talk to you about any urgent problem.

Information Regarding Appointment Times

When you call for an appointment the receptionist will need to know the general nature of your problem to assess the urgency and the amount of time required. A regularly scheduled appointment is booked for 15 minutes only. If you have several problems, a complex personal matter to discuss, or require an annual, insurance or driver's physical please let the receptionist know and she will reserve extra time. Each member of our staff is bound to keep all information strictly confidential. If you are unable to keep your appointment please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. A fee will be charged for missed appointments. An urgent, same day appointment is to be used for urgent matters only. These appointments are booked 2 per 15 minutes and are to deal with the urgent matter only. Please respect the time frame and book a follow up appointment to discuss any ongoing issues with your family physician.

Health Cards

A reminder to always bring your health card to your appointment.   When you arrive, a receptionist will ask you to swipe your card through the card reader.

Check the expiration date on your card, and arrange for a new one before it expires.

Missed Appointments

Missed appointments take valuable time away from ill people who are waiting to see their doctor.    Please provide advance notice for appointment cancellations.    Not adhering to the advance notice policy will result in a missed appointment fee of $25.00 for a regular appointment and $50.00 for a physical or half hour appointment.

Test Results

Due to the overwhelming number of test results received each day, we will notify you if your test results are abnormal. If you have a particular concern book a follow-up appointment with your doctor.

Specialist Referral

If your physician initiates a referral to a specialist, please note, the wait times for a specialist appointment vary widely. Once we have confirmation of your appointment, our office will notify you either by telephone or by letter.   We will outline the appointment time, date and location and any specific instructions you are required to follow.   Please ensure our office has your current demographic information.

If you have not heard from our office within four weeks you may call the office to inquire on the status of your referral.

Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital

Effective March 1st, 2012, the CMC physicians are no longer looking after patients at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital with the exception of Drs. Desbois and Byron who will continue to look after labouring patients and their newborns only.
